Dear Louisiana Parents,

The United States Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) in Washington, D.C. is visiting two Louisiana state agencies in October 2009. OSEP will meet with Early Steps and Louisiana Department of Education for a verification visit to learn how the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is working for Louisiana families and their children.

OSEP has asked that parents take a brief survey to share their experiences. Responses are confidential, names will not be used and results will be presented in summary form. Your opinion is valuable and will help OSEP evaluate the impact of IDEA.

Thank you for following the link to the online version of the survey. Please let other parents know about the survey and ask them to respond. There are other ways to answer survey questions. A hard copy version is available. Families can call their answers in to the parent staff at the Louisiana Parent Training and Information Center. If you'd like a hard copy or to respond by phone please contact our office. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 504-888-9111 or 800-766-7736 or e-mail  carceneaux@laptic.org.

Sincerely,

Mary Jacob, Executive Director, Louisiana Parent Training & Information Center
